Happy Monday! It’s been a minute since I’ve sent out a newsletter—It’s just been one of those months. But I know there are a lot of new faces here, so if we haven’t met yet, welcome! I’m so grateful you’re here.
While I’ve been off of here, I’ve been thinking about how I can save my energy and in what ways I can be more intentional about where I am putting it. I have one of those jobs that drains my battery to the point that when I’m not working, I’m basically melting into my couch, so I fear something needs to be done. If you’re like me, getting dressed in the morning, and specifically putting something on that makes you feel confident, is hugely important. That said, I haven’t had much stamina lately to put into getting dressed, which has also in some ways sucked the joy out of the experience. Lately, something that really has been helping me 1) save energy and 2) bring more joy to getting dressed, has been sticking to two base colors that complement each other and that I can build an outfit around. It’s such an easy hack!
There are 4 color combinations in particular the I have been obsessing over and that you’ll likely see me wearing all Fall/Winter long. See below!
BURGUNDY + CHOCOLATE BROWN:
When I saw this burgundy trench, I audibly gasped. The color and the length is so unexpected.
A reliable, everyday brown suede tote that fits your laptop.
The perfect chucky brown v-neck knit. Also obsessed with this one and this one.
A patent leather loafer in the dreamiest burgundy. Pair with a white sock!
The first pair of capris I’ve found that I actually like by Christopher Esber.
Khaite’s brown suede Marfa boots in brown suede. A dream. Also the Khaite Alessio Suede Loafers.
The Row leather card case.
COS Buckled Ballet Flats in patent leather.
More from The Frankie Shop, which is really good right now—this Jessie leather belt, a faux suede blazer and brown pleated trousers.
NAVY + BLACK:
A really good oversized denim shirt from COS.
On my wishlist for this season—the perfect pair of leather riding boots from AEYDE.
I’ve seen a few people post about this trench, which appears a bit basic and probably not warm enough for these cold winter months, but I love it nevertheless. We can’t always be practical.
An elevated slip on flat.
A simple black turtleneck. This one has a nice boxy fit and would pair well with pretty much anything IMO.
I know I’m not re-inventing the wheel here, but this Madewell western belt really is THAT good. I’m all for anything that remotely resembles Khaite without the price tag.
A gorgeous satin hobo bag from loulou studio.
Khaite Bonnie Jeans (please let me know if anyone has tried these because they are SO good on model) and the Olivia Medium Leather Hobo in black. Simple.
For everyday— the A Emery Hudson Boot in Black.
I’m normally not one for an a-line skirt, but something about this one in navy with knee high boots makes me feel things.
